The UPV A-Ball team wins the Costa Blanca Cup Inclusive
The Palacio de los Deportes L'Illa de Benidorm hosted the wheelchair football match between the team of the Polytechnic University of Valencia and the Association of Footballers of Valencia CV
The wheelchair soccer team from the Polytechnic University of Valencia prevailed over the Valencia CF Soccer Association team in the match for the title of the Costa Blanca Cup Inclusive. The victory of the UPV was by a score of 2-4 in the A-Ball match held at the Palacio de los Deportes L'Illa in Benidorm.
The two teams underlined in a capital way one of the concepts that are a fundamental pillar of the Costa Blanca Cup, which this year celebrates its twenty-ninth edition, which is 'football for all'. Both the team from the university institution and the team from the Valencia association gave an example of mastery and control of the wheelchair to activate themselves in full competition on the court. In addition to handling the chair, logically there was a demonstration of precision to control the ball with the structure for receiving and expelling the ball to carry out passes or shots on goal.
The Costa Blanca Cup, an international grassroots football tournament that was born in 1994, reinforces in each edition its conviction for the concept and practice of football for all. In 2015, it activated the Inclusive category. This 2023, with what will be the 29th edition of the sporting event, has hosted this meeting in a wheelchair.
Regarding this modality, the AFAE is the Association for the Promotion of the same in Spain. This discipline is practiced with ÉOOS, a wheelchair device developed by Ortoprono. A-Ball is a new international sports category that aspires to become a Paralympic discipline and is in the process of diffusion and integration in both professional and amateur football clubs and in multiple organizations. His name plays with English phonetics. Able, in this language, means capable. Thus, it synthesizes the spirit of overcoming this new sport.
