Costa Blanca Cup: 30 years promoting educational football (soccer)
The international grassroots soccer tournament, whose first edition was in 1994, reaches a very special event this coming summer with its three decades of promoting experiences through sport
In the summer of 1994, the first seed was laid for the development of an international grassroots soccer tournament in La Marina Baixa, with Benidorm being the initial venue for the championship. Three decades have passed since that. Thirty years with a company like Tour-Sport Sports Promotions working, promoting, risking, professionalizing an event based on sport (from the profile of football and later futsal), tourism, the international aspect and the experiential for all itsparticipants.
So, this coming summer, a benchmark tournament in Spain will experience and celebrate a very special event: the XXX Costa Blanca Cup. Between June 30 and July 6, 2024, with direct action, both from sports and tourism, La Marina Baixa will be the scene of days of football and experiences. And this tournament, pioneering at the time, will continue, as always, with the promotion of this sporting discipline among all its participants. It is especially worth noting that the Costa Blanca Cup, since its first edition, has already activated the women's categories.
Its headquarters will be Benidorm, Alfàs del Pi, Altea, Calpe, Finestrat, La Nucía, La Vila Joiosa, Polop de la Marina, Benissa and Callosa d'En Sarrià.
We are talking about a sporting event of reference in formative stages, which is the protagonist every summer and which will be, on this occasion, a prelude to the Paris Olympic Games, where Spain will be represented in football in both the men's and women's teams (for the first time). time in history).
“We want to shape an anniversary for the thirty years of the tournament with the support of institutions and companies to build the best experience for the girls, boys and adolescents who will be there in 2024,” says Fernando Brotons, organizer of the CBC.
How and with what motivation was it born? “In the 1980s, the organizers participated in several international grassroots football tournaments in northern Europe. The experience was very good both because of the strengthening of the group and because of the relationships that were generated with teams from all over the world. As soon as they could, they transferred the same concept to Spain, a country with unbeatable conditions for it," recalls Brotons, while highlighting that "the promotion of tourist sport, its international character and the promotion of values through football ”.
On this occasion, although traditionally in the last 19 years the football and futsal tournaments have taken place in parallel, the Costa Blanca Cup will take place exclusively one week after the track competition takes place. The hotel offer, therefore, will provide various alternatives to the teams that arrive at this event in the Marina Baixa, with Benidorm, the city par excellence for tourism, as the center of operations. And in this three-decade journey, the Costa Blanca Cup has been a boost for educational sports, a cultural and experiential exchange, but also a tourist engine and generator of wealth for the region.
